Pancreatic ?-Cell Senescence: Mechanisms and Association with Diabetes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Senescence occurs as a part of the cellular response to different stressors. With increasing age, continuous exposure stressors leads age-induced senescence. Pancreatic ?-cell proliferation and glucose homeostasis also decrease with which results in ? cell mass and, eventually, possible development diabetes. This process is mediated through impaired cycle regulators, along specific increases inhibitors, telomere shortening, defective DNA repair mechanisms. Diabetes contributes senescence hyperglycaemia, dyslipidaemia, oxidative stress, inflammation. cells isolated from patients Type 2 diabetes mellitus have been shown markers, such senescence-associated secretory phenotype genes ?-galactosidase. In this paper, authors discuss mechanisms senescence, how impacted by diabetic microenvironment, factors contributing

Pathogenetic loop between diabetes and cell senescence.
C ell senescence has recently been postulated as an important cause/ consequence of type 2 diabetes and its complications. Cellular senescence is defined as a limited ability of human cells to divide, and it becomes evident through phenotypic changes in morphology, gene expression, and function (1). It has long been known that genomic instability, a hallmark of premature aging disorders such as...

متن کاملMediators and mechanisms of pancreatic beta-cell death in type 1 diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) is characterized by severe insulin deficiency resulting from chronic and progressive destruction of pancreatic beta-cells by the immune system. The triggering of autoimmunity against the beta-cells is probably caused by environmental agent(s) acting in the context of a predisposing genetic background. Once activated, the immune cells invade the islets and mediate ...
متن کاملAssociation of diabetes and perineural invasion in pancreatic cancer
Diabetes and perineural invasion are frequently observed in pancreatic cancer. In this study, we tested possible relations between diabetes and perineural invasion in patients with resected pancreatic cancer. We conducted a retrospective study in 544 cases of resected pancreatic adenocarcinoma seen at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center during 1996-2011. Information on tumor chara...
